A new study from Realtor.com addresses not necessarily this particular issue, but a view of the problem as seen from the perspective of the super-rich.
As you'll see below, owning a luxury home in Colorado is rather expensive, but the comparison of that cost to many of the state's neighbors may come as the biggest surprise.
How Much is a Colorado Luxury Home in 2025 Compared to Neighboring States?
According to Realtor.com's new data, the average cost of a luxury home in the state of Colorado in 2025 is a whopping $3.3 million. Of course, there are plenty of ridiculously lavish mansions in ski towns like Vail and Aspen that exceed tens of millions of dollars, but this is merely the average price of a home considered to be in the category of "luxury."
If we travel east, we'll see that Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma's average price for a luxury home is significantly less as all three states land just under $1 million.
However, the one state that shares a border with Colorado with a higher average price of a luxury home is, surprisingly, the nation's least-populated state, Wyoming.
In fact, the average price of a luxury home in Wyoming is significantly higher than in Colorado at a whopping $4.2 million.
