However, one of the most notable things about Governor Polis's announcement was his use of characters from what one can only predict will one day become the state's official cartoon - South Park.
Colorado Governor Uses South Park Characters to Announce New Holiday
In case you're not familiar with it, South Park is set in the semi-fictional Colorado town of the same name and is the brainchild of University of Colorado alumni Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
The show has a variety of characters including the comedy pair Terrance and Philip, as well as main character Kyle Broflovski's younger brother Ike, all of which are Canadian as made evident by their beady eyes and flapping mouths. It was the use of these characters, as well as a cartoon version of the Governor himself, that accompanied the announcement.
This isn't the first time Governor Polis has been associated with the wildly popular TV show as he appeared on television with the two creators to announce their purchase of Colorado's iconic Casa Bonita, and the Governor even gave the state a previous holiday known as 'South Park Day' in connection with the show's 25th anniversary concert at Red Rocks.
