Taking the time to stop carrying unnecessary items in your wallet helps reduce the chances you'll be the victim of identity theft because of something lost or stolen from your wallet. Using the digital wallet available on smart devices can save you from having to physically carry a credit card around with you that could be lost or stolen.

Murphy's Law states that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. With this law in mind, only carry what you need. If you don't need your passport, why take it to the mall and risk losing it, right? If your wallet is lost or stolen, would you be able to easily contact the various credit card companies to report your lost cards, or are all the contact numbers on the cards themselves? Photocopies of your cards (front and back) or taking photos of your cards with your phone can help you easily know who to contact if they go missing.
