Running any kind of small business in Colorado takes a lot of hard work; for one small pub in Loveland, it's time to let it go.

A place that has been home to many celebrations, put crawls, whiskey/wine tastings, football game viewings and more, will see someone new taking over in 2025, after six years of operation.

It's been one of my own favorite spots in town, it'll be sad to see them not behind the bar.

Pub in Downtown Loveland, Colorado Changing Hands

Downtown Loveland doesn't have many bars that you can just relax at with friends and family. There are fancier bars, dive bars, dance clubs, but not just plain old bars. One of them, that has been open since 2018, is going to see a big change.

Loveland Tap & Tavern Set to See New Ownership

Dave and Kat Mayhew have had Loveland Tap & Tavern for six years, in Downtown, nearly directly across form The Rialto Theater. It's a great location, right in the middle of 4th Street, where foot traffic is heavy.

I've been into Loveland Tap & Tavern many times, especially during the spring and summer, enjoying their front patio while listening to podcasts or reading magazines.

Things under Dave and Kat will officially come to an end on December 31, 2024 with a celebration of the Irish New Year at 5:00 p.m. and another New Year celebration at 10:00 p.m.

By mid-February the new owners of the establishment should begin their operations.

Of the new owners, Dave told me:

I told them, if they're not going to keep a great selection of spirits on hand and have cloth towels in the restrooms, you can't call it Loveland Tap & Tavern..

He said the owners are ready to keep things rolling as they are now, with the food truck out back cooking burgers and such, and the keeping the bar itself the way it is. It'll be interesting to see the place come the spring of 2025.
