A Great Record Store in Colorado Has Closed for Good After More Than 30 Years
If there's one thing Coloradans can agree on, it's that we all love music. We may not enjoy the same tunes, but we all enjoy how music makes us feel. A store that provided records and instruments for 30 years has closed.
In today's age of Spotify, YouTube, Pandora and other platforms, it's harder and harder for record stores to stay relevant, let alone stay open, for so many years. It's hard to believe that 1991 was over 30 years ago, that's for sure.
It's a great story, though, of following your passion and turning it into a longtime business.
Colorado Record Store Closes After 30 Years of Operation
Many Coloradans have known the joy that comes with combing through racks of albums looking for something from their favorite artist, or discovering new music. Sadly, there a just fewer and fewer places to do that, with the closing of yet another record store.
The Denver Post reports that a record store in Dillon has shuttered, after having opened in 1991. You many not have heard of Affordable Music, but for it to have been open for more than 30 years, people in the area must have loved it.

Not only did Affordable Music sell music, but they also sold guitars. If you think about passing time in the mountains during winter, you can see a lot of people playing guitar. One Affordable Music customer commented:
I am a VERY beginning guitar player and I needed new strings. Knowing absolutely nothing, I went to Gary’s store and he kindly assisted me in selecting new strings. (He also installed them for a very reasonable price.) He did not take advantage of my novice and try to upsell me to make more off of me.
