Popular Fort Collins Whiskey Bar Shuts Down, Big Changes Ahead
A popular tasting room in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins has been around since late summer of 2018. This month, the tasting room has closed, and the news has broken that the distillery has been sold.
On May 7, the Reserve at Old Elk posted on Instagram that the tasting room that served one of the best Old Fashioned cocktails in Northern Colorado was permanently closing its doors.
We offer our deepest gratitude to our loyal patrons and trusted vendors. Your unwavering support has meant the world to our team, and it has been a true pleasure welcoming you into our herd. You helped shape our brand, our story, and our identity—and for that, we thank you.
The Reserve at Old Elk said in the Instagram post.

At the end of the announcement, Old Elk said that there would be more exciting news on the horizon. As of Tuesday, May 13, we now know what that news is.
Old Elk Distillery Has Been Sold to Another Independent Distillery From Ohio
A press release has been issued announcing that the acquisition of Old Elk has taken place by one of North America's independently owned distilleries. Located in Ohio, Middle West Spirits has taken possession of Old Elk Distillery and its related assets.
As someone who loves a good quality bourbon, I am looking forward to seeing what Middle West Spirits does with the Old Elk brand. Will Old Elk relocate the tasting room to another location in Northern Colorado? Or maybe we will see a Middle West tasting room location somewhere in the state of Colorado? We can only sit back and wait to see what the future holds.
