
Colorado Is More Stressed About One Thing Than 49 Other States
Many of us in Colorado are feeling stressed right now. In fact, one in eight Colorado residents report having poor mental health right now.
We all know what stress feels like. It is not ideal. We all have different coping mechanisms to deal with stress. Some of those habits are more constructive than others.
Coping With Stress
My coping mechanism for stress is to not focus on the problem. I find it helpful to focus on the solution by writing out mini 'escape plans' from my stress.
I find that searching for practical solutions rather than wallowing helps me out. I also like to eat fast food when I'm stressed.
I do not know what it is, but it helps me view the world with rose-tinted glasses again.
Colorado and Stress Data
WalletHub dived into stress analytics from across the country. They used 40 different factors to determine which states are the most and least stressed.
They also wanted to figure out what factors of American lives are the most stressful, depending on the state.
WalletHub concluded that Colorado is the 20th most stressed state in America. This is a drastic change considering that our state was the 8th least stressed state just five years ago.

I assumed that Coloradans were mostly stressed about finances, however, I quickly realized that I was wrong.
What Coloradans Are Most Stressed About
According to the data, the most common stress in Colorado is due to work. Out of every state in our nation, Colorado was ranked second for work-related stress. Here are the factors that determined our ranking.

- Average commute time
- Average leisure time
- Job security
- Unemployment rate
- Underemployment rate
- Income growth rate
